Dental fillings are a way to restore the function and shape of a tooth that has been damaged by decay. They get their name because they literally fill in the area where there was once decay. We’ll remove any of the affected tooth material, clean the area, and then place the filling.
Dental Fillings FAQ
What kind of fillings do you provide?
We offer composite dental fillings, which match the natural color of teeth. This makes them a more subtle restoration compared to silver amalgam fillings.
How do I take care of a dental filling?
Fillings don’t require any special care. Just continue with your regular dental routine of brushing twice a day, flossing at least once a day, and visiting the dentist every six months.
How long do dental fillings last?
While dental fillings are designed to last many years, they will need to be replaced eventually. Dr. Lagoo will be able to let you know the condition of your filling during your appointment.Schedule Your Visit
Dental crowns come in handy for a number of different situations since they can correct a tooth’s strength and its appearance. When you come in for a dental crown, we’ll examine, prepare, and take impressions of the tooth being treated. We’ll then send off those scans to a dental lab that will make your crown, and we’ll fit you with a temporary crown. Once the lab sends us your custom crown, we’ll bring you back to place it.
What are some of the main reasons I might need a dental crown?
We may recommend you get a dental crown if you have a cracked, broken, or worn down tooth. We also may suggest getting a dental crown if a filling won’t give your tooth enough support. Dental crowns are used alongside dental bridges and dental implants, too.
How long do dental crowns last?
Dental crowns generally last between five and 15 years. It all depends on how well you keep up with your oral hygiene and how much natural wear and tear your crown faces (like if you grind or clench your teeth).
Are dental crowns covered by insurance?
Insurance coverage for dental crowns varies depending on your specific plan. Many plans will cover a portion of the costs if a crown is required for your dental health but won’t if it’s simply being placed for cosmetic reasons.Contact Us
Tooth Replacement Options
Pebble Hills Dental Care offers different tooth replacement options depending on your needs. Bridges are great for replacing a gap left by one or two missing teeth while dentures are a popular solution for replacing many teeth, even an entire arch.
Bridges & Dentures FAQ
What are the benefits of replacing missing teeth?
There are plenty! Getting bridges or dentures will help you chew and speak more easily. They’ll also prevent your other teeth from shifting out of place and possibly causing issues with your bite (the way your teeth are aligned). They can even prevent your facial shape from looking sunken, which can often be the case with missing teeth.
How do I take care of my bridge or dentures?
Like with your other teeth, bridges should be brushed and flossed but you’ll need to pay extra attention to flossing under and around the artificial teeth themselves. With dentures, you’ll need to remove them and clean them every day. Our team will walk you through all the specifics!
How do I know if a dental bridge or dentures are right for me?
Come in for a consultation with Dr. Lagoo, and she’ll take a look at the condition of your mouth to determine the best solution for your needs.Discuss Your Options
Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy seems to be one of the most dreaded restorative dental procedures out there, but that’s often because it’s misunderstood. This treatment doesn’t cause pain, but alleviates pain from a severe infection that’s gotten down to the tooth root.
Root Canal Treatment FAQ
What causes a root canal infection?
Damage (like a crack or chip), serious decay (left untreated), and repeat procedures on the same tooth are the main causes behind an infection spreading into your tooth’s root canals.
What are some signs that I might need root canal therapy?
Tooth pain, tooth sensitivity, tender or swollen gums, and a darkening of a tooth are all common signs. If you notice any of these signs, you should schedule an appointment at Pebble Hills Dental Care so Dr. Lagoo can plan next steps for your restorative dental care.
What happens if I don’t get root canal treatment when I need it?
If you don’t take care of the inflammation or infection, it can end up causing you more pain, lead to an abscess, and put your in danger of losing that tooth to protect your health.
